The Moon, Jupiter and Venus

When you look at the sky these nights you are going to see close to the moon  two celestial bodies that shine yellow light . They are not stars, they are the planets Jupiter and Venus, as you can see in this picture february on 24th pass near the moon. On March 13th the two planets will cross in the sky and the lights will be side by side. Venus is the brightest, is about the same size as the earth and it is 40 million miles away. Jupiter is always more than 600 million kilometers from Earth and it is the largest planet (its volume is 1,317 times greater than the earth). The moon is 81 times smaller than the earth, but we see it bigger because it is much closer than these planets (384 000 km)

Cuando miréis al cielo estas noches vais a ver cerca de la luna dos astros que brillan con luz amarillenta. No son estrellas, son los planetas Júpiter y Venus que, como se ve en esta imagen del día 24 de febrero pasan cerca de la luna. El día 13 de marzo los dos planetas se cruzaran en el cielo y las luces se verán una junto a otra. Venús es el más brillante, es casi del mismo tamaño que la tierra y está a 40 millones de kilómetros de distancia. Júpiter está siempre a más de 600 millones de kilómetros de la tierra y es el planeta más grande (su volumen es 1.317 veces mayor que la tierra). La luna es 81 veces más pequeña que la tierra, pero la vemos más grande porque está mucho más cerca que estos planetas (a 384 mil kilómetros)
